NORTH STONINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Fifteen people were hospitalized after a lightning strike Monday morning at a golf course in North Stonington.

According to Archie Cart, the general manager of the Lake of Isles Golf Course, the lightning strike occurred as workers at the golf course were running for cover as the storms began to move through the area.

The lightning bolt struck at around 9:30 a.m. in the vicinity of a grounded building as the workers were taking shelter during the strong storms.

None of the 15 people injured were actually struck by the bolt of lightning, according to officials, but they all began to complain of not feeling well.

So as a precaution, all of the workers were taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
