BROOKLYN, CT (WFSB) -

A man is under arrest after police say he robbed a gas station and assaulted an officer in Brooklyn on Monday morning.

State Police say 42-year-old Myron Johnson of Plainfield entered the Sunoco station located at 500 Providence Rd. and claimed he had a gun. The suspect then demanded money from the store clerk and fled on foot.

A short time later a trooper who was searching the area for the suspect, spotted a man who fit the description and began questioning him.

During the conversation, the man, who turned out to be Johnson, heard his physical description broadcast over the police radio. Johnson struck the trooper in the face and tried to get away.

The trooper shot Johnson with his Taser and arrested him.

Johnson was taken to Day Kimball Hospital for treatment for his Taser wounds then brought to State Police Troop D.

Johnson was charged with robbery, larceny and assault of a police officer and is being held on $500,000 bond.
