HEBRON, CT (WFSB) -

A Hebron man received the shock of his life as he was brushing his teeth Monday afternoon.

Tom Lenaiewicz, a Glastonbury police dispatcher, was in his house brushing his teeth when lightning struck a nearby maple tree.

Lenaiewicz believes the strike caused a ground current to race from the site up to the faucet he was using in the bathroom.

"It just kind of made your arm go numb," he told Eyewitness News.

Emergency crews arrived on scene, and after a number of tests, Lenaiewicz checked out fine. He said it took a few minutes to shake off the pain and he'll be back to work Tuesday.
