NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -
The New Haven Police Department released a statement on Thursday and said an investigation being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed no misconduct during an arrest last month.
On June 4, the NHPD started an investigation of an incident involving the possible misconduct of a New Haven police sergeant.
The accusations stemmed from an arrest which occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 2 during bar closing time in the Temple Street courtyard.
The Internal Affairs Division immediately began an investigation into the incident as well.
On June 5, the FBI notified the New Haven Police Department that it too had started an investigation of the same incident.
After a month, the FBI informed NHPD that they concluded its preliminary inquiry and determined that the matter was more appropriately addressed by the New Haven Police Department's Internal Affairs and local authorities.
The Internal Affairs investigation continues and The Department affirms there is no presumption of misconduct.
