SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Crews in Southington responded to a fire at a popular pizza place on West Street in Southington Friday morning

The fire broke out at Mack's on West around 10 a.m.

The fire appears to have begun on the side of the building near a breaker box.

Firefighters were able to knock the exterior fire down quickly, but it spread to the walls. Fire crews said the damage appears to be limited to the basement area.

The owner of Mack's on West, Casey Canka, said he is upset about his business going up in flames just a year after buying it. Canka said he had been having some issues with his electricity lately and had someone working on the breaker box.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat-releated injuries. The fire department said they are rotating crews a bit faster due to the heat.
