HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) -
The technology synchronizing Saturday night's music and fireworks in Hartford malfunctioned, according to the company putting on the show, making for a less than spectacular performance.
A spokesperson for Atlas PyroVision Productions says the computer used to control the firing panels failed. That meant the crew was forced to take the systems from all three barges offline in the early parts of the show, and then fire each barge independently. The manual operation meant the barges were not synchronized.
Riverfront Recapture puts on this annual event. A spokesperson for the group says: "Over the years, Riverfest fireworks have built a reputation as one of the most outstanding shows in New England. This year's show did not live up to the standards that we've set for Riverfest fireworks. You're disappointed -- and so are we."
The group says it hopes to return with a smooth fireworks show in 2013.
