Dad accused of paying teen to beat up bully speaks out - WFSB 3 Connecticut

A Shelton father appeared in court Monday on charges that he paid a teen to beat up the 13-year-old who he believed was bullying his daughter, and Monday he spoke to Channel 3 Eyewitness News to tell his side of the story.
"That's crazy," said Philip Prokop about the allegations. "That's the craziest thing, wherever that info came from."
New Haven Bureau Chief Robert Goulston spoke to Prokop at his home hours after he walked out of court with his attorney denying that he tried to pay a teen $21 to fight the 13-year-old who his daughter said was bullying her.
Goulston asked, "Did you make any arrangement to get someone to stop the bullying?"
"No," Prokop said, "100 percent no."
But police said they disagree.
They said he showed up at a Shelton diner in May with the plan to pay the teen to fight the alleged bully. Police also said Prokop tried pulling some of the other kids away who were trying to stop the fight.
"Prokop said the bullying was so bad that his daughter was acting differently, and even talking about dying.
He said he hopes the court sorts out the issue because he said he was only trying to be a good parent - not commit a crime.
"I approached them and clearly said who I was, my name and who my daughter was and to not bully," Prokop said.
Prokop said some of the bullying was happening at school.
Channel 3 Eyewitness News tried reaching out to the superintendent, but he was not able to be reached on the phone.
