BERLIN, CT (WFSB) -

The Berlin Police Department is warning residents about the recent discovery of bottles that are filled with some kind of chemical that can explode if mixed.

The police department began notifying residents after two bottles were found a few days apart.

One of the bottles was discovered on July 6 on Summit Wood Drive and the other was found four days later on Pond Side Drive.

In both instances, police said, the bottles were found by the road near a mailbox and newspaper tube.

Police are warning residents that if they see an unknown container not to touch or move it and to call police immediately.

If the chemicals are mixed, the reaction could cause the container to explode causing possible injuries resulting from chemical burns.
