Hartford firefighter suddenly dies at Glastonbury home

Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra and Hartford Fire Chief Edward Casares Jr. announced that firefighter William Hunt died Friday morning at home in Glastonbury.

Hunt, 50, was an 18-year veteran of the Hartford Fire Department and also served in the United States Navy.

Hunt was presently assigned to Engine 2/Tour A.

He was the proud father of two daughters and was engaged to be married.

In a statement, the Hartford Fire Department said it was deeply saddened at the sudden loss and has extended their support to the Hunt family during thisvery difficult time.

Segarra has ordered all flags to fly at half-staff until the conclusion of his funeral, which has yet to be announced.
