CT gas prices well above national average

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Drivers here in Connecticut are digging a lot deeper into their pockets to fill up their gas tanks.

The average price of a gallon of gas in the United States has dropped about seven cents in the last three weeks, to $3.38.

But drivers in Connecticut are paying an average of $3.70 a gallon, 32 cents more than the national average.

The lowest gas prices on Monday were in the town of Berlin. In that town, many drivers are only paying $3.45.

Heading into Fairfield County, drivers in Westport are paying up to $4.44 a gallon.

Nationally, the lowest price for a gallon of gas was reported in Madison, MS. In that town, drivers are only paying $3.02.

The highest price for a gallon of gas was reported in the town of Bethel, AK. Drivers there are paying a whopping $5.67 for a gallon of gas.
