Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is expected to be on hand for the grand opening of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.'s new global, corporate headquarters in Stamford.
A ceremony is planned for Tuesday afternoon.
The chain, which operates the Sheraton, W Hotels and Westin brands, announced back in November, 2009 that it was moving its headquarters from White Plains, N.Y. to the Harbor Point waterfront development in Stamford. The company said it planned to invest $40 million in the existing facility.
Back in 2009, the company's president said Starwood would save 20 percent a year in rent. Under former Gov. M. Jodi Rell, the state agreed to provide Starwood with millions of dollars in tax credits and a loan.
The move is expected to bring 800 jobs to Connecticut.
