MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -
A gas leak on the Boston Post Road in Milford on Tuesday afternoon has been stopped, but the road remains closed.
Officials from the Milford Fire Department said construction crews working in the area struck a gas main, causing the leak.
Some businesses in the area were evacuated as a result of the leak, and during the evacuation, emergency officials told people leaving the area not to start their vehicles and to leave the area on foot.
The Boston Post Road, also known as Route 1, was closed between West River Street and Plains Road.
The leak was stopped by 5 p.m., but officials in the area said the road remains closed.
