HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

Rescue crews helped remove a hiker after he fell in Sleeping Giant State Park on Tuesday night.

According to police, the man fell in a quarry area on the northern side of the park near Tuttle Road.

A Life Star helicopter was initially called, but was canceled a short time later by crews on scene.

The hiker, believed to be in his mid-20s, was alone during the incident, according to officials.

He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of what officials said are minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
