FARMINGTON, CT (WFSB) -
Injuries were reported on a school bus Tuesday afternoon after a teenager shot the bus with a BB gun, according to the Farmington Police Department.
The bus, which was carrying children from Winding Trails, was struck by a BB while it was traveling on Highwood Road.
Police said the BB shattered a bus window and struck an 11-year-old girl in the cheek, causing a laceration.
A 9-year-old boy was also injured when the window shattered, cutting him.
The 11-year-old girl told police she saw three boys standing in a yard, and one of them was holding a rife.
As the bus passed the home, she reported to police the window shattered and was hit in the face with the BB and shards of glass.
Based on the girls description, police were able to locate the home of the shooter and he was arrested.
Police arrested Nicholas Chiarillo, 19, of Knollwood Road, and charged him with assault, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
He is expected to appear in court July 24.
