Rescue under way for injured hiker in Salisbury

SALISBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A rescue is under way for an injured hiker in Salisbury.

Litchfield County Dispatch officials said the hiker suffered some sort of head injury on the Appalachian Trail.

Officials said the hiker was at the Mount Rega Shelter, which is along the trail.

A LIFE STAR medical helicopter was headed to the scene to bring the hiker to a local hospital.

Rescue teams are also headed into the woods.
