A New Haven woman was sleeping when police said an intruder came into her home, and at one point the man even went into the woman's bedroom.
Police said she woke up and noticed her car was missing from the driveway, but the keys were still here. Then she noticed her spare keys, which she keeps on a desk in her bedroom, were missing.
"I just started freaking out," Katie Dryden said. "I went around and noticed the door was unlocked, my window was open without the screen and I went into the bedroom and the spare key was gone."
Dryden was home alone Wednesday night.
She and her roommate are in the middle of moving out and it was her last night in the apartment and apparently she left a window unlocked.
"I guess we didn't check them well enough," she said.
The intruder entered through the window and made his way into the bedroom where she was sound asleep.
"They must have walked right past me while I was sleeping and took what they needed from my desk and walked out my back door with my purse," Dryden said.
Police are still looking for her 2005 blue Toyota Corolla, her purse and checks.
As for sleeping in a new apartment, all the windows are getting locked.
