BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) -

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch is speaking out after two people, including a 15-year-old girl, were killed in the city early Saturday morning.

In the first shooting, police were called to 46 Wood Ave. just after midnight and found the victim lying in the entrance of the building.

Police said the victim, 30-year-old Mi Lin Zhao, was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died from his injuries.  Officers believe Zhao was the victim of a street robbery when the shooting occurred.

Neighbors tell us Zhao was the owner of the New Hong Kong Restaurant, which is located just up the street from where he was shot.

Just hours later, officers were called to Brooks Street after shots rang out.  Witnesses said they heard four to five shots. One of those shots hit a teen sitting on a nearby front porch.

Police said the teen, who has been identified as Kiajane Robinson, was shot once in the head.  She was rushed to an area hospital and was pronounced dead later in the day, officials said.

Mayor Finch extended his condolences to both the Robinson and Zhao family saying, "both were innocent victims of the widespread use of illegal guns in our society".

Mayor Finch said the city will continue to work with state and federal authorities to tackle the issue of gun violence in the city.  In addition, he said he looks forward to the City Council's  upcoming vote on the revision of a curfew ordinance in the city.
