HARTFORD, CT (AP) -

A Waterbury man who stabbed another man to death at an Enfield motel last year is set to be sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Thirty-four-year-old Jeffrey Ward is due in Hartford Superior Court on Monday for sentencing.

Ward was originally charged with murder in the September killing of 29-year-old Hector Sibaja at Motel 6 on Hazard Avenue, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of first-degree manslaughter last month. He also pleaded guilty to assault for slashing a woman in the same incident.

Police said Ward argued on the phone with a former girlfriend who was at the motel with several other people. Ward said the woman told him she was going to have five men jump him when he arrived, and he attacked Sibaja in fear
