Police identify victim in jet-ski accident

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection have identified the victim of a jet-ski accident on the Connecticut River.

Christopher Schoen-Kiewert, 34, of Meriden, died Monday as a result of injuries sustained while operating a personal watercraft on the Connecticut River in the early evening on Sunday, July 22.

The personal watercraft he was operating collided with a 33-foot pleasure boat operated by Jonathan C. Keene, 28, of Manchester.  The collision took place in the area of Middletown, CT.  Schoen-Kiewert was taken by Life Star to Hartford Hospital.

Danielle Tardif, 31, of Meriden, was a passenger on the watercraft and after the collision was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
