Woman hit by car, inappropriately touched while running from naked man

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A naked West Haven man has been arrested for attacking a woman and her child on Monday afternoon.

Police received several 911 calls just before 1:30 p.m. that a naked man, identified as Lawrence Jones, was chasing and attacking a woman.

Police responded to the area of 78 Homeside Ave., and were immediately confronted by Jones, who was naked.

Police said he was extremely combative and was under the influence of some sort of narcotic.

Police were forced to use a Taser on Jones because he would not comply with their demands.

Witnesses said the woman and her 9-year-old child were trying to get away from Jones, who were acquaintances of him, and during their attempted escape, the woman was struck by a vehicle and was lying in the street.

The story then took an even more bizarre turn.

Witnesses said Jones then approached the unconscious woman and began to inappropriately touch her in the middle of the road.

The child then tried to rush to the aid of her mother, and witnesses told police he then hit the child in the face to stop her from helping.

All three were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

Jones, 47, was arrested and charged with several counts of assault, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and didn't appear to remember anything.

The judge told him to stay away from the woman and his response was, "Yes, I guess because I'm not sure what went on."

Jones' girlfriend and friends were in court as well on Tuesday, and when they were asked why he didn't help the woman after being hit, someone said they thought it was because he was so strung up on angel dust.

He'll be back in court next month.
