ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) -
Friends and classmates gathered Tuesday night to remember Shawn Charles, whose life was cut short Sunday while working on his car.
Charles was working on a 1997 Acura Integra when the jacks the car was on failed, dropping the vehicle on him. Charles, a recent graduate of Rocky Hill High School, broke every rib in his body and fluid began to fill his lungs.
Monday, his parents made the tough choice to take him off of life support. On Tuesday, more than 200 friends came to remember Charles during a candlelight vigil held at the high school.
Friends plan to work on the car over the summer, something they say will be a fitting goodbye gift.
