FAIRFIELD, CT (WFSB) -
A fire that started in the brakes of a tractor trailer caused a temporary closure and heavy delays on Interstate 95 south in Fairfield on Thursday morning.
Officials closed the southbound lanes between exits 19 and 18 around 2 a.m. while they extinguished the fire.
Fairfield fire officials said the fire started in the brakes of the cab and spread to one of the two trailers the truck was towing.
Some of the packages in the trailer were damaged, officials said, however no one was injured.
The highway fully reopened a couple hours later.
