Monroe County, GA (WFSB/CBS ATLANTA) -
A 6-year-old Coventry girl is dead after being accidentally shot by her 13-year-old brother while visiting her grandmother in Georgia.
Police said the accidental shooting happened after midnight on Tuesday.
According to reports, the gun was lying on a bed and fell on the floor where it discharged. The bullet from the .22 rifle struck Jenn Stanovich in the chest.
The gun was used earlier in the day to shoot armadillos in the yard around the house, according to reports.
Stanovich was taken to the Medical Center of Central Geogia, but died a short time later.
No charges were filed.
