DANBURY, CT (WFSB) -
Severe weather and storm damage have spared most of Connecticut after a line of strong storms moved through Thursday night.
Heavy rainfall, vivid lightning and some gusty winds did cause issues in western Connecticut, knocking out power to customers and taking down trees.
A spokesperson for Connecticut Light and Power said they have crews on the road making the final repairs to get power back to everyone.
As of 4:45 a.m., about 2,200 CL&P customers were still without power, most of them in southwestern Connecticut.
United Illuminating is also dealing with about 1,200 outages of their own.
Lightning did strike one home on High Street Extension in Danbury, causing some minor damage. The family was home at the time but escaped without any injuries.
Danbury Police did have to close several roads for a while as crews worked to removed down trees and power lines; those roads have since reopened.
