Man charged with knifepoint robbery due in court

NORWICH, Conn. (WFSB) -

A man charged with robbing a convenience store at knifepoint is expected to make his first appearance in court today.

According to police Rodney Hagins, 40, of West Thames Street, attempted to rob the Best Mart convenience store on Central Avenue on Saturday.

Hagins threatened the clerk with a knife and grabbed an unknown amount of cash from the register, police said.

Hagins ran but was found and arrested a short time later.

Hagins is charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.
