HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The suspect involved in a triple stabbing in Hartford remains behind bars, and new details about the case have been released.

Fred Coby, 26, is charged with attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend and is accused of stabbing her repeatedly in the chest, back and neck.

He's also accused of stabbing two others.

Coby arrived in court Monday afternoon in handcuffs and immediately turned to his family and told them he loved them.

His public defender said he told the judge he has no recollection of the night's events.

He's accused of stabbing his ex, Diana Picot, several times as well as stabbing her mother and her friend.

Neighbors said they saw the fight happening outside Picot's home on Sherbrook Avenue, which still has blood stains.

"My mom told me she saw blood," said Hartford resident Kimberly Urena."She ran upstairs and I was sleeping and then checked on my brothers and sisters."

One neighbor didn't want to be identified, and she said the suspect screamed "where's my car?" and when she said she didn't know, that's when the attacks began.

"I threw a bottle at the guy and it hit him in the face," the unidentified neighbor said. "He punched the girl with the knife and I said, 'Oh my God, he's going to kill her.'"

Police said that's when Picot was stabbed in the chest, and then seven more times in the back and neck. She remains in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.

Police said when they found her, she said Picot told the officer, "Don't let me die. Fred did this. Why did he stab me? He left me to die."

Picot's mother was then stabbed in the thigh while her friend was also viciously attacked.

A witness said she saw her daughter getting stabbed and tried to fight Coby before he cut her three or four times, and then sliced her ear.

Police said they caught up with Coby and he denied being at her house, but then when they told him the mother was also stabbed, the officer said he replied by saying, "I would have loved to have stabbed her."

Outside of court on Monday, Coby's family was seen weeping and declined to comment on the case.

According to a police report, Coby tried to kill himself while in jail and when officers tried to stop him, he became violent.

He's due back in court on Aug. 27.
