Soldiers from two units of the Connecticut National Guard are deploying to Afghanistan and Bahrain.
A ceremony was held Tuesday at the William A. O'Neill Armory in Hartford to send off a total of 260 soldiers.
They represent the 143rd Military Police Company of West Hartford and the 248th Engineer Company of Norwich.
Officials say the military police company will work alongside Afghan police to provide security and intelligence operations.
The engineering company will help protect installations in Bahrain.
The Connecticut National Guard has more than 550 soldiers and airmen mobilized in support of the U.S. effort in Afghanistan.

I first saw the headline early Tuesday on Real Clear Politics, a political news site where I generally start my morning. It's not where I expect to see a story on breast cancer.
