The Republican leader of the Connecticut Senate is renewing his demand for the legislature to investigate allegations that aides to House Speaker Christopher Donovan hid the source of campaign contributions to influence legislation.
Sen. John McKinney of Fairfield says he will make his demand at a news conference on Tuesday. Republicans are in the minority in the House and Senate.
McKinney says new indictments issued last Thursday show that a conspiracy extended to the senior staff of Donovan, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for a U.S. House seat.
Donovan denies any wrongdoing and has not been charged.
His former campaign manager and others were charged last week with conspiracy and other crimes. Donovan's former finance director had previously been indicted by a federal grand jury.
