STAMFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Two people have been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place inside a Stamford laundromat in June.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on June 26, Stamford police received word of an unconscious man on the floor of Uncle Buck's Laundromat on Fairfield Avenue.

The victim, James Decrescenzo, was brought to Stamford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the death revealed evidence of a robbery and burglary to the business and to Decrescenzo in which he suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

An autopsy was conducted on Decrescenzo and his cause of death was ruled as blunt force trauma and asphyxia.

Police said they poured over hours of surveillance video and interviewed witnesses regarded the events that led up to Decrescenzo's killing.

Stamford police concluded that the people responsible for Decrescenzo's death were Ivan Silva, 29, and Elmer Saenz-Machado, 35.

Police learned Silva fled the area and Saenz-Machado was arrested on an unrelated investigation.

Police said they spent several weeks attempting to locate Silva, and he turned himself into police Tuesday.

During an interview Silva confessed to being involved in that took place, according to police.

Police said he told them that he planned the robbery for several days and was doing it in an attempt to gain approval from the MS-13 Gang.

He said he then employed Saenz-Machado to act as a distraction in the robbery, but the robbery quickly turned into murder, according to Stamford police.

Silva was charged with:

  • Felony murder
  • Robbery
  • Conspiracy

He was ordered held on $1 million bond, and Stamford police he had other outstanding warrants for burglary and conspiracy, as well as unlawful restraint, assault and conspiracy.

Saenz-Machado was charged with:

  • Felony murder
  • Robbery
  • Conspiracy

They were both expected to appear in court Tuesday.
