A Connecticut man is facing charges in Springfield court after evading police while driving recklessly on Interstate 91 Tuesday evening.
Massachusetts state police say they observed Mark Bosworth, 50, of Enfield, Conn. crossing over marked lanes, weaving back and forth between the right and left lanes several times on Interstate 91.
State police say Bosworth didn't stop for a cruiser which activated its emergency lights, even continuing through a construction zone before he began tailgating a car carrier.
Bosworth's car was stopped by a state trooper who deployed his Stinger tire deflation device and hit all four of the vehicle's tires. Two other cruisers blocked the roadway and guided the vehicle to the breakdown lane.
Bosworth was taken to the State Police Barracks in Springfield. State police say he had a heavy odor of alcohol on his breath and bloodshot, glassy eyes. State police also say Bosworth was found to have prescription medications that were not prescribed to him.
Bosworth was charged with OUI alcohol, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of a "Class E" substance. Bosworth was eventually released on personal recognizance and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Springfield District Court.
