NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut State Police detectives apprehended a New Haven man on drug charges Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, detectives working in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Inspectors intercepted two packages which contained 14 pounds of marijuana. The investigation enabled detectives to obtain a search and seizure warrant to search the residence receiving the delivery.

Police then set up a controlled delivery located at 151 Dewitt St. in New Haven, where the packages were delivered and accepted by Jacqueline Harrison. Detectives executed the warrant upon Harrison receiving the packages.

In addition to the packages, other evidence relating to the knowledge of the package were seized. The criminal investigation revealed that the packages were for addressed to Dwayne Singh.

Singh was taken into custody without incident and charged with numerous marijuana charges as well as risk of injury to a minor. The Department of Children and Families was contacted and a referral made because minors were located in the residence.

Singh was held on bond and will appear in New Haven Superior Court Aug. 2.
