Boil water advisory issued in Voluntown

Posted: Updated:
Voluntown, CT (WFSB) -

People in one section of Voluntown have been told to boil their tap water, following an advisory issued by the SDC Water System.

Officials said homes on Rod Road, Lakeside Terrace, Tanglewood Lane and Valley Drive are being affected by the advisory.

The action was taken after water quality testing showed that bacteria was present in the water system.

Officials said a tanker has been stationed at the end of Lakeside Terrace to provide safe drinking water until the advisory is lifted.

Water company officials are working with the Department of Public Health to fix the problem.

Dan Meaney of the SDC Water System told Eyewitness News that he expects the boil water advisory will last throughout the weekend.
