West Haven police warn residents about vehicle break-ins

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

The West Haven Police Department is warning residents to be vigilant after a rash of vehicle break-ins and other items being stolen from property.

Police said various vehicles were broken into on Ocean Avenue, Terrace Avenue, Boston Post Road, Treat Street, Norwalk Street, Treadwell Street, Shingle Hill Road, Linden Street and Noble Street.

In addition, police said, five mopeds were stolen from areas on Main Street, Campbell Avenue, Meadowbrook Road and Painter Drive.

Five people were also arrested in connection of a theft of a vehicle in the area of Shingle Hill Road, and copper was stolen on Center Street and Nonquit Street.

Police department officials said residents need to lock vehicles and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight.
