NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) -
Norwich Police Officer Kenneth Nieves, charged with multiple felony sexual assaults, rejected a plea agreement Tuesday that would have landed him in jail for a year.

According to court officials, Nieves rejected the agreement and will now have his case placed on a trial list until his case can be heard. Nieves could have plead guilty to risk of injury to a minor charges as part of the agreement.

As part of the rejected agreement, Nieves would have received a five-year sentence, suspended after serving one year. He would have received ten years probation and be required to register on the state sex-offender registry for ten years.

Nieves has been free on $50,00 bond since December and has been accused of having inappropriate sexual relations while on duty.

A Norwich Superior Court judge ordered him to not have contact with any of his alleged victims. He is out on a $50,000 bond.

State police charged Nieves with three counts each of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
