MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -
The Middletown Police Department said there was no attempted abduction reported in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said someone called them and said that her friend, an adult female, told her that she was approached by two men in a brown truck.
The caller said the two men offered to give her friend a ride, and the woman knew at least one of the men inside the vehicle.
The caller said that the woman told her one of the men was a registered sex offender.
Police stressed this was not an attempted abduction, it was just two men asking if the woman wanted a ride.
The caller didn't provide any other information.
Police said they responded to the area to look for the vehicle, but were not successful.
It was unknown how much time passed between the time the incident occurred, and when it was reported.
The Middletown Police Department is asking for the woman who was approached to call and confirm what happened, if she wishes to do so.
The incident occurred somewhere in the area of Liberty and Main streets.
