NEW BRITAIN, CT (WFSB) -
New Britain police said they were investigating an armed robbery at an East Main Street convenience store on Thursday morning.
Police said the Smokes n Snacks store, located at 536 East Main St., was robbed by a group of men just after 11 a.m.
"So I said, 'take whatever you want,'" Imran Sarwar said.
Sarwar was alone inside his store and knew something was wrong when four men rushed their way in - within seconds they had a gun pointed at him.
"Instead of taking things, they wanted to wrestle me," he said. "The guy with the gun, I pushed him out of the way and ran because I thought he was going to shoot."
Sarwar said the men took about $200 in cash from the register and even told him to empty his pockets and stole his watch.
When they ran from the store, he said he ran after them.
"I chased them around the block," he said. "They went into their car and I got the license plates and they took off."
The men got into a car with two other men.
The vehicle is a gray Chrysler Concorde with New York plates.
Sarwar said the licence plate was: FLY1230.
There have been a string of robberies in New Britain and Newington. Last week the owners of another store were held at gunpoint.
Sandra Inoa was scared to death and thought she was going to be killed.
In all of the robberies, the gunmen didn't wear masks, and some believe in this latest robbery, they were in the store on Wednesday checking it out.
