COLCHESTER, CT (WFSB) -
The state fire marshal is working to figure out what started a fire in the basement of a Colchester home early Saturday morning.
Town fire officials say the flames broke out just before 3 a.m. at a home on New London road. They say a mother and daughter were able to get out of the house without any injuries. Crews were able to knock down the flames within 20 minutes.
Firefighters say the fire may have been electrical, but an investigator from the state fire marshal's office will determine the exact cause.
