NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -
Emergency crews rescued two stranded kayakers from the Naugatuck River early Friday evening.
Officials said two men and one woman were kayaking down the Naugatuck River just before 6 p.m. Friday evening, when two of them struck an oak tree that had fallen into the river.
The third kayaker was able to avoid the fallen tree and then called authorities.
Members of the Naugatuck Fire and Police Departments then responded to the scene, near Pulaski Way and Bridge Street.
Rescue workers were able to pull the kayakers from the water quickly, according to officials, who said the rescue took less than 20 minutes total.
None of the kayakers were injured, according to officials, who said that all three were wearing proper protective gear.
