TRUMBULL, CT (WFSB) -
Reports of a suspicious van made for some scary moments at the Trumbull Westfield mall and had the town fire marshal call the state police bomb squad.
Police say security officers noticed a Chevy astro van with a cargo rack carrying two large cargo boxes and gas cans, and had tubing and wires connecting inside. They say the outside of the van was covered with writing about a conspiracy.
The town fire marshal called the state police bomb squad.
Police officers found the owner of the van, who said the boxes were actually a generator because he occasionally lives in the van.
After a bomb squad investigation the van was found not to be of any threat. The owners of about 30 vehicles around it were clear to leave the mall once the bomb squad finished up.
