LEDYARD, CT (WFSB) -
A Mashantucket police officer reportedly found a 3-year-old child wandering the area of Fanning Road Saturday night.
Ledyard resident Courtney Richard, 27, was arrested after she left her child home alone while she went to work, according to police.
After a neighborhood canvass, it was discovered that the child was residing with his mother and maternal grandparents.
Richard was located at her place of employment approximately two hours after the child was found walking in the road.
Richard claimed a relative was taking care of the child but later recanted the statement after police located the relative.
Richard was taken into custody and held on a $5,000 bond.
The child is now in custody of his father.
