Pair arrested in West Hartford armed robbery

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

West Hartford police have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery of a D'Angelo Sandwich Shop that occurred Sunday evening.

Police said, 24-year-old Vyacheslav Dergunov, of West Hartford, and 24-year-old William O'Sullivan, of Elizabeth, NJ, walked into the D'Angelo's on North Main Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

Witnesses told police the suspects, described as white males wearing baggy clothing, fled the scene in an older model red Cadillac with passenger side damage.

Police were able to locate the vehicle a short time later with both suspects still inside of it.

Dergunov and O'Sullivan were both taken into custody without incident.

Police said the gun displayed was later determined to be a pellet gun.

Dergunov and O'Sullivan are both being held on a $500,000 bond and face numerous charges including first-degree robbery, breach of peace, carrying and brandishing a facsimile firearm.

They are due to be arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Monday.
