WATERFORD, CT (WFSB) -
A plane made an emergency landing at Waterford Beach just before noon Monday.
The unidentified pilot, who is in his 70s, said he was flying with his daughter from Buffalo, NY to Groton to visit relatives when out over the water, the engine on his plane died.
The pilot said he has been flying for 50 years, and flew the particular plane he was on for the last few years.
The maker of the plane, Sonex, provides "the recreational aviation community innovative, cost-effective and efficient aircraft kits, powerplants, and accessories and supporting them with industry-leading customer service," according to the website.
Several people were on the beach when the plane had to make the emergency landing, and several witnesses said the plane made no noise whatsoever while it descended over the beach and landed in a marshy area.
No injuries were reported.
