Two arrests have been made in the July 31 homicide that happened on Atwater Street in New Haven, according to police.
Rueben Gonzalez, 27, was shot during what police believe was a robbery. It was the city's 11th homicide of the year.
In a news conference Tuesday afternoon, New Haven's police chief said they arrested 27-year-old Emit Scott on a number of charges including felony murder and robbery.
Police said Scott is a convicted felon who was already in jail on unrelated charges.
Police also arrested 29-year-old Ernest Harris. He too is in jail on unrelated charges. Harris' new charges include murder and robbery.
New Haven Police Chief Dean Esserman gave credit to the community and business owners on Grand Avenue for helping to solve this crime. Esserman also commended the work of the New Haven detectives in their handling of this case.
The investigation is still ongoing and a third arrest is expected.
