Connecticut woman dies while parasailing in Florida

POMPANO BEACH, FL (WFSB) -

A Wethersfield woman died while parasailing in Florida with her husband Wednesday afternoon.

According to Florida Fish and Wildlife officials, 28-year-old Kathleen Miskell died after her harness broke while she was parasailing.

Officials said Miskell fell 150 to 200 feet into the water off of Pompano Beach, FL. Miskell and her husband, Stephen Miskell, were in tandem when her harness broke.

Stephen Miskell also fell into the water; he was picked up by the boat the couple were parasailing from. The company operating the parasail, Wave Blast Water Sports, operated from the Sands Hotel in Pompano Beach.

According to officials, EMS personnel began CPR at the scene and Kathleen Miskell was transported to Broward Health North, where she was pronounced dead.
