Holly Bobo's family tries new tactic to bring her home

PARSONS, TN (WSMV) -

It seems Holly Bobo's family has tried almost everything to try to find their missing daughter. Search crews have canvassed her hometown and the woods where she was last seen countless times since she vanished more than a year ago.

But now loved ones are trying something new to get the 20-year-old nursing student back home.

About a dozen volunteers, including Chris Williams and his K-9 partner, Bear, spent the day Wednesday, as they have nearly every week since Bobo disappeared 16 months ago, combing Decatur County for clues.

"We literally have to get in there, go about 30 feet in and just pull all of the leaves out of there and look through them to see what's there. You've got a whole year and a half's worth of foliage," Williams said.

At the Decatur County Fairgrounds, Bobo's family and friends were trying to drum up their own leads Wednesday.

"We've sent them out to Harry County, Chester County, Huntington," mother Karen Bobo said.

The family drew up 20,000 information cards, mailing them to homes within a 50-mile radius of Parsons - Holly Bobo's hometown and the last place she was seen before she went missing in April 2011.

Karen Bobo said she hopes the flyers will generate new leads in the case and do what other efforts have failed to do: bring her daughter home.

The family has also set up a unmanned table at this week's fair where people can drop off tips anonymously, hoping all the foot traffic will generate new leads.

"Somebody knows something. And they need to come forth with that information," Karen Bobo said.

Holly Bobo's childhood friend, Mary Beth Helms, said she hopes the flyers will keep the search in the forefront.

"This isn't just a case, a case that needs to be resolved. It's Holly. She's a person," Helms said.

Volunteers are organizing another search of the area later this month. It is set for Aug. 25 and 26 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
