The Connecticut Department of Transportation said motorists can expect delays on and near the Arrigoni Bridge in Portland and Middletown, as prep work begins to complete the final stages of construction.
Delays can be expected from 8 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Monday, DOT officials said.
Route 66 will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic, to complete prep work in advance of the final paving of stage three on the two main spans. The work will include removal of the temporary concrete barrier and crash system, eradication of the temporary pavement markings and placement of temporary marking tape to delineate travel areas and the work zone.
Upon completion of the work, CT DOT officials said, traffic will be restored to the pattern that's currently in place, which is one lane in each direction along the south side of the bridge with the north sidewalk remaining closed.
Several more traffic shifts will occur after Labor Day.
The entire project will be completed in November, CT DOT officials said.

I first saw the headline early Tuesday on Real Clear Politics, a political news site where I generally start my morning. It's not where I expect to see a story on breast cancer.
