GROTON, CT (WFSB) -

A body has been recovered from a boat that sank off Fishers Island on Sunday, according to Coast Guard officials.

The Coast Guard and local dive teams returned to the water early Monday morning  to locate the body of a missing boater.

Officials have not yet identified the body.

Crews were called to the waters off Fisher's Island Sound Sunday afternoon after a boat struck some rocks and capsized.

Old Mystic Fire Chief Ken Richards Jr. said divers had been in the water since 3 p.m., when the call came in for a vessel in distress.

The boat was a 50-foot power boat out of Westerly, RI, with 10 people onboard, according to the chief. All boaters who were rescued were taken to shore and did not need medical attention.

Rescue crews were able to pull 9 of 10 people and a dog to safety; however, a female passenger was unaccounted for.

Crews returned Monday morning and were able to upright the boat in an attempt to locate the woman, who was reported to have been trapped when the boat capsized.
