WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
A nurse has been arrested for stealing pills from patients at an assisted living facility in West Hartford and replacing them with something different.
Lisa Czarnecke, 30, of Bristol was arrested on Saturday.
Police said Czarnecke, an LPN, was stealing narcotic tablets from her 90-year-old patient and replacing them with other medications at the Hoffmann SummerWood senior housing complex on Simsbury Road.
"Her employer at Summer Wood found out and they reported it to the police. Family members noticed that her medication was missing," according to West Hartford police LT. Jeffrey Rose.
Officials said Czarnecke replaced the percocet and oxycontin with Tylenol and Metformin, a medication for diabetes that was stolen from another patient.
Police first found out about this in May and asked Czarnecke to come in to the station, but she ignored them.
Police obtained a warrant for Czarnecke and arrested her this weekend in Monroe.
Czarnecke was charged with illegal possession, larceny and reckless endangerment and is due in court on Aug. 30.
