GRISWOLD, CT (WFSB) -

Two people were found dead inside a home that caught fire in Griswold early Tuesday morning.

Emergency officials responded to the fire at the single-family home on Tatro Road just after 4 a.m., and by the time fire crews arrived the home was completely engulfed in flames, according to Connecticut State Police.

After the fire was extinguished, state police said, the bodies of two people were found inside.

Connecticut State Police troopers assigned to the fire and explosion unit have been working with the major crimes unit in investigating the incident.

The two victims were brought to the chief state medical examiner's office where an autopsy will be performed to both positively identify them, and to determine their cause of death.

No other information was released from officials.
