TOLLAND, CT (WFSB) -
A 20-year-old woman is recovering after being bitten several times by a pit bull Tuesday afternoon.
According to the victim's great-grandmother, the unidentified woman was bitten by a dog at the Del Air Campground in Tolland just before 1 p.m.
The great grandmother said the victim suffered "major damage" to her face and nose and has bites on her arms. She was transported to Rockville Hospital and then transferred to Hartford Hospital.
The woman will need corrective surgery and received many stitches as well as eight Rabies shots, according to the great grandmother. She was released from the hospital Wednesday and has a long road to recover, the great grandmother added.
The dog warden from Tolland is investigating the incident. The animal has been quarantined at this time, according to state police.
